Dateline:
September 22, 2005
Houston, TX
Felton
Pilate, solo artist,
producer, and Con Funk
Shun lead vox/songwriter,
boards up his studio and
home, takes his family,
and evacuates from
Houston, TX, with the
onslaught of Hurricane
Rita bearing down.
Departing at sunset last
night for Shreveport to
be encamped with
relatives, the usual
three-hour drive became a
nine-hour ordeal. But
Pilate doesn't plan to
simply wait it out. He is
busy launching the
non-profit,
Singing4TheSouth, a
karoke-kommunity, Katrina
relief-aid fund raising
entity to benefit the
American Red Cross,
MusicCares, and other
charities. But last
night, he joined the very
evacuees for whom he is
helping to raise support.
Not to be deterred from
his mission during this
time of crisis, today
Pilate heads further on
to Memphis to off-set
this tragedy with music.
Tonight, Thursday, Sept
22nd, he joins Samuel L.
Jackson, Justin
Timberlake, and a
cavalcade of stars,
artists, and musicians
who link with
N.A.R.A.S./Memphis
Chapter and point-man
(Chapter Prez) Kurt
"KC" Clayton,
for a Katrina Relief-Aid
event, Beale Street
Festival style. Further,
Pilate takes one more
step for hurricane
relief, and announces
that a portion of his CD
sales proceeds of
"Nothing But Love
Spoken Here" derived
either from
www.CDBaby.com or from
www.FeltonPilate.com,
will go directly to
Singing4TheSouth and the
karoke kommunity
Katrina-Relief-aid
program. Pilate has also
volunteered to
participate in a
relief-aid concert that
is being planned in
Cleveland, OH, for
November 5th, by industry
promotion vet, Myron
Ruffin of Unlimited
Wealth Entertainment.
Pilate welcomes
additional relief aid
benefit inquiries that
coincide with his
existing commitments.
Interested sponsors
should contact him
further at business@feltonpilate.com.
Pilate is quoted:
"Though I have to
evacuate, I still feel
like the lucky one.
Katrina equals pain, and
music equals love. The
challenge is on, and love
is gonna win!"
